The Idea
With LUCID DREAM, trumpeter, composer and producer Nils Petter Molvær enters an entirely new artistic field. He leaves the stage behind and takes dense atmospheric sounds out into nature. LUCID DREAM is an audiovisual installation whose very special character is constituted by its unique location and the cultural history of the forest.
Sound, light and images merge together in a walk-in installation, where atmosphere changes between pure and true beauty and beauty’s dangerous, destructive side.
The Forest
The historic relevance of the forest, its great symbolism and its spiritual, mythical power are very much alive and deeply rooted in our consciousness. In the history of art and literature the forest has always been a popular motif, especially in the romantic period where the forest became one of the most important topics of a whole era. In fairy-tales, sagas and myths the forest stands for uncertainty and danger but also for beauty and shelter.
The Experiment

Sounds and light evoke inner pictures - lucid dreams. Nils Petter Molvær is fascinated by the crystal clear mental disposition in states of uncertainty and is magically drawn to it within his music. In this extraordinary concert environment the perception of time and space expands. Encountering music and visuals at your own pace and in your own space, the forest will allow for a very different and individual experience of music and art.
